Instruction for Authors

The RKGP Journal of Food Science (RKGP-JFS) publishes high-quality original research articles, review papers, and short communications in the field of food science and technology. Manuscripts submitted should meet criteria of scientific significance, originality, and academic rigor. All submissions are subject to rigorous peer review, and accepted manuscripts are published in order of acceptance.

Manuscript Submission
Authors are required to read the journal’s Editorial Policy and adhere to established ethical guidelines prior to submission. Manuscripts should follow appropriate reporting standards relevant to the study design. Submissions are primarily accepted via the online manuscript submission system, where authors must complete a one-time registration. Manuscripts may also be submitted as email attachments to the Editorial Office at rjfs@rkgpjournals.org, provided that the manuscript text, tables, and figures are consolidated in a single Microsoft Word file. Authors will receive an acknowledgment email on the same day, and a manuscript tracking number within 72 hours of submission.

Cover Letter
A cover letter must accompany all submissions and include the full contact details of the corresponding author. Authors may suggest two to three potential reviewers, providing their names and institutional email addresses.

Research Ethics
Studies involving human subjects must comply with the World Medical Association (WMA) Declaration of Helsinki on Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects. Research involving non-human animals must adhere to relevant ethical guidelines, including the Animal Welfare Act, EU Directive on the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes, and ARRIVE guidelines.

Reporting Guidelines
Manuscripts should provide a complete, accurate, and transparent account of the research performed. Authors are encouraged to follow additional reporting guidelines applicable to their specific area of research.

Article Types

  1. Original Research Articles (Full-Length Papers): Comprehensive reports of original research, including sufficient methodological details to allow replication.
  2. Short Communications: Reports of complete but smaller-scale studies, innovative methods, or preliminary findings. Typically 2–4 printed pages (~6–12 manuscript pages). Short communications may combine Results and Discussion sections, with experimental details provided in figure legends or table footnotes. Abstracts are limited to 100 words.
  3. Reviews: Concise, critical reviews or perspectives on topics of current interest. Manuscripts should not exceed 4–6 printed pages (~12–18 manuscript pages).

Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should generally follow the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion). All pages must be double-spaced and consecutively numbered, beginning with the title page.

Title Page

  • Include a concise title reflecting the study content.
  • List all authors’ full names, institutional affiliations, emails, and phone numbers.
  • Indicate the corresponding author with contact information.

Abstract

  • Provide a self-contained abstract of 100–200 words.
  • Use complete sentences, active verbs, and past tense; avoid citations and abbreviations.
  • Abstracts may be structured or unstructured.

Keywords
Include 3–5 keywords to facilitate indexing.

Introduction
Present the study rationale, review relevant literature, and state the study objectives or hypotheses clearly.

Materials and Methods
Provide sufficient detail to allow replication. Newly developed methods should be described fully; previously published methods should be cited with brief notes on modifications. Subheadings are recommended.

Results and Discussion

  • Present results clearly and objectively; use past tense for the study’s findings.
  • Interpret results in the Discussion section in the context of current literature. Subheadings may be used; Results and Discussion sections may be combined when appropriate.

Conclusion
Summarize key findings concisely at the end of the manuscript.

Acknowledgments
Briefly acknowledge contributions, funding sources, or support.

Conflict of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial or other relevant conflicts that may have influenced the study.

Tables and Figures

  • Minimize the number of tables; number consecutively.
  • Provide descriptive titles and units of measurement.
  • Tables should be prepared in Word or Excel.
  • Figures should be submitted as GIF, TIFF, JPEG, or PowerPoint files.
  • Include legends, and cite tables and figures sequentially in the text.

References

  • Cite references in-text using the author-date system (e.g., Smith, 2008; Jack et al., 2007). Use “et al.” for three or more authors.
  • Distinguish multiple works by the same author in a year using lowercase letters (e.g., 2006a, 2006b).
  • List references alphabetically at the end; unpublished work should be cited in the text only.
  • Abbreviate journal names according to Chemical Abstracts and include DOIs or PubMed IDs where available.

Review Process
Manuscripts are reviewed by an editor and members of the editorial board or external experts. Reviewer comments are typically returned within four weeks, and accepted manuscripts may be published within eight weeks of submission.

Acceptance Certificate
Authors receive a certificate upon manuscript acceptance.

Manuscript Handling Fee
A handling fee of $350 (USD) applies upon acceptance. Fee payment is not a condition for acceptance, nor does acceptance guarantee fee approval. Authors may request Publication Fee Support under special circumstances.

Proofs and Reprints

  • Galley proofs are sent to authors for minor corrections, which must be returned within 72 hours.
  • Only electronic handling is provided; PDFs of the final article are emailed to the corresponding author. Hard copies may be supplied upon request and additional payment.

Publication and Notification
Upon completion of proof corrections, manuscripts are published in the next journal issue and uploaded online. Authors receive a publication notice with links to the article.

Copyright
Submission implies that the work is original, not under consideration elsewhere, and has not been previously published except as an abstract or part of a thesis. Upon acceptance, copyright is automatically transferred to RKGP-JFS, while the work remains open access under the CC BY 4.0 license.
